Heavy InventoriesOverview

Heavy Inventories

Heavy Inventories adds weight to the things you carry. Packing for a trip means leaving room for what you bring back, and a full inventory can make the journey home harder than the journey out.

These pages cover 4.263.0.0-rc.2 for Minecraft 26.3, on Fabric and NeoForge. This is a release candidate. Older releases may have different settings or dependencies.

Players

Start with installation, then carrying weight. Find out what counts toward your load, what happens when you carry too much, and how to increase your capacity.

The player guide also covers enchantments, elytra flight, tooltips, and the weight display.

Modpack makers

Use server settings to tune capacity and penalties, and weight datapacks to change individual item weights. Datapacks go on the server; players receive its weights when they join.

The modpack guide includes commands, weight reports, and importing older weight files.

Developers

Start with the developer guide to integrate your mod. It covers plugin setup on both loaders, weight queries, extra inventories, custom containers, capacity bonuses, HUD ownership, and update callbacks, with Java examples. You can also bundle weight definitions without writing a plugin.
