Enchantments

Heavy Inventories adds four enchantments to help you carry more, keep moving with a heavy load, or fly farther while carrying supplies. Their benefits apply while the enchanted item is equipped.

EnchantmentEquipmentMaximum levelBenefit
BracingChest armorXAdds 10% of base capacity per level, up to 100%
ReinforcedLeggingsVAdds 5% of base capacity per level, up to 25%
SurefootedBootsIVKeeps you walking while encumbered or overloaded
SoaringElytraIVReduces weight penalties during flight by 20% per level, up to 80%

Bracing and Reinforced

Bracing increases the capacity of a player wearing the enchanted chest armor. Reinforced does the same for leggings. These are the enchantments to look for when you want to bring home more from a trip without becoming overloaded.

Both use your base capacity, before Strength or other armor bonuses. At the default 1,000-pound base, Bracing I adds 100 pounds and Reinforced I adds 50.

Wear both to combine their bonuses. Replacing your chestplate with an elytra removes the chestplate’s Bracing bonus.

Surefooted

Surefooted is a boots enchantment that lets you keep walking when your load would otherwise slow you to a crawl or stop you. It sets a minimum walking speed when you’re carrying too much:

LevelAt 90% to below 100% capacityAt 100% or more
I25% of normal5% of normal
II25%10%
III30%15%
IV40%20%

These are minimums, not fixed speeds. If your normal weight slowdown would leave you moving faster, you keep that faster speed. Surefooted works with either walking mode.

It does not restore ground jumping or reduce hunger, fall, swimming, or flight penalties.

Soaring

Soaring is an elytra enchantment for flying with a load. It reduces both the loss of lift and the loss of rocket thrust, and works alongside Unbreaking and Mending.

At level IV, you still have 20% of the weight penalty left. With the default flight settings and a load of 1,000 pounds or more, that means 3% less lift and 5% less rocket thrust.

See elytra flight for how load affects flying.

Getting and using them

The enchantments are available through enchanting, including enchanted books. Apply books to the matching equipment at an anvil, and combine matching levels there to work toward higher levels. For Soaring, enchant books and apply them to an elytra.

Equip the item to receive its benefit. Keeping an enchanted item in your inventory does not give you the bonus.
